Copy ink was made to be pressed: a sheet of damp tissue laid over fresh writing in a letter-book press would lift a readable mirror copy, and the ink had to be strong enough to give up half of itself and still leave a legible original. This is that colour, if not that chemistry — a warm brown-black that turns distinctly red where the line is thin and goes almost black where it pools.
On cream or buff paper it is the most flattering ink we sell. On bright white it looks muddy, and we would steer you to the blue-black instead. Dry time is slow, about 20 seconds in a medium, because it is heavily saturated; on glossy paper it can take a minute.
Dye-based, pH neutral, not waterproof. Very high saturation means it will stain a clear demonstrator section over a few months. 50 ml faceted glass.
