Nine 4 ml vials — the whole range — standing in a turned walnut rack with the well positions numbered and a blank swatch card that fits in a slot at the front. Four millilitres is roughly one and a half converter fills, which is enough to live with a colour for a fortnight rather than judge it from a single line.
Buying full bottles to find a colour you like is how people end up with eleven bottles and two favourites. This is the cheaper route. The rack is cut from the offcuts of the pen blanks, so the grain varies and some racks have a sapwood edge.
The vials are polypropylene with a conical insert, so a converter can draw from them directly without a syringe. The swatch card is the same 120 gsm cotton stock we sell as a writing pad, which means a swatch made on it will match what the ink does in a letter.
