A rocker blotter is the correct tool for drying a page and a sheet of loose blotting paper is not, because loose paper has to be pressed flat and a rocker rolls, which lifts ink without any lateral movement at all. This one is cast and machined brass with a 200 mm radius curve, a turned brass handle, and two sprung steel clips underneath that hold a blotting sheet taut.
It weighs 640 g, which is most of the point. The mass means you do not press; you set it on the page and roll it once, and the weight does the work. A light blotter needs pressure, and pressure is what smears.
The brass is supplied bright and will go to a warm brown patina within a year of handling. If you want it bright, a wadding polish twice a year will hold it; we prefer it dull. Takes our 110 by 220 mm blotting sheets, or any sheet cut to that size.
