Identical construction to the monogram seal — 25 mm brass face, 1.2 mm engraving depth, relieved field, plain 1.5 mm border, turned walnut handle with a brass ferrule — cut to a geometric house mark instead of an initial.
A house mark is the older idea: a simple linear device, often two or three strokes, that identified a workshop or a household and could be cut by anyone. It reads better in wax than a letter does, because straight deep lines throw harder shadows than curved thin ones, and it is not tied to a name.
Four marks are offered and shown in the photographs; all four are our own, none is a historical family mark, and we will not cut a mark that belongs to someone else. Because these are stock patterns rather than cut to order, they ship immediately rather than in a week. Same brass, same release behaviour, same advice about chilling the face between impressions.
