The same geometry as the brass rocker — a 200 mm radius curve and two sprung clips for a standard blotting sheet — cut from solid walnut with a turned brass pin for a handle. At 240 g it is a little over a third of the brass version’s weight.
That changes how it is used. The brass blotter works by mass alone; the walnut one needs a light hand on the handle. Neither is better, but if you blot with a sweep rather than a single roll you will find the lighter tool easier to control, and the wood does not ring on a hard desk.
The curve is cut across the grain from a single block, which is why the end grain shows as two dark crescents on the faces. Finished in hard-wax oil. The brass pin is a press fit and can be driven out if the handle ever needs replacing. Takes the same 110 by 220 mm blotting sheets.
