The same flexible wickless formulation and the same 95 by 11 mm stick as the violet, in a dense flat black. Black is the most legible sealing wax and almost nobody uses it, because it looks severe. It is legible because an impression is read entirely by shadow, and a dark matte wax has the highest contrast between a lit face and a shaded relief.
If you are sealing something that has to be photographed, or a seal with a fine engraving, or a house mark with thin lines, this is the wax that will show it. A deep red or a violet looks better on the envelope and shows less of the cutting.
Same behaviour as the violet: melt in a spoon, pour, allow four seconds, press, wait a further ten before lifting. Flexible, so it survives the post. Five sticks per pack, roughly six to eight seals each.
