The Registry 02 takes everything that makes the 01 write the way it does and removes 10 mm of barrel and 11 g of brass. The result is a pen that still sits heavy in the hand at 31 g filled but can be carried, and that most people find easier to hold for an hour at a time. The section is the same diameter as the 01 — 11.4 mm at the narrowest — so the grip does not change if you own both.
The nib is a No. 6 in the same long-taper profile, tuned to lay a slightly drier line than the 01 because the smaller feed holds less ink in reserve. On 90 gsm laid paper it gives a line of about 0.55 mm in medium. The cap posts, just, but the balance point moves behind the web of the hand and we do not recommend it.
Finished in smoked grey ebonite with a satin brass band. Filled by converter, supplied. The barrel takes a wax polish once or twice a year; nothing else is needed.
