The Registry 01 is the pen we build when the writing is meant to stay on the page for a century. The barrel is turned from a single billet of hard rubber over a brass weight sleeve, which brings the pen to 42 g filled — heavy enough that the nib does the work and the hand only steers it. At 158 mm capped it is a desk pen, not a pocket pen, and it is deliberately not postable; the cap is cut with a four-start thread that closes in three quarters of a turn.

It carries a No. 8 nib, the largest we fit, with a 1.8 mm breather hole and a long, slow taper to the shoulder. The feed is ebonite, hand-cut with nine fins, and it is tuned wet — the pen is intended for the kind of ink that sits on the surface and dries slowly. Filling is by cartridge or by the piston converter supplied in the box.

Each pen is turned, cured for six weeks, then re-turned to final diameter, which is why the barrel stays round. The RPCO mark is engraved into the cap band, not printed. Wipe the section with a dry chamois; never soak a hard rubber barrel in hot water.
