Engrossing is the old word for the work of writing something out formally, large and once. This is the pen for that job. The No. 8 nib is ground broad — 1.1 mm as supplied — and set wet enough that the line has weight at the start of a stroke rather than catching up halfway through. It is not a note-taking pen and we would not sell it as one.

The barrel is cream-dyed acrylic with a faint chatoyance under raking light, 146 mm capped, 26 g filled. The section flares slightly at the lip so the fingers sit back from the nib, which matters on a broad grind where the sweet spot is wide but the ink is heavy. The feed is ebonite with a deep central channel to keep the broad nib fed through a long stroke.

Supplied with a piston converter and a short bottle of our document ink. It will run on anything but it was tuned on iron gall, which is what the grind is really for. Flush with cool water every fourth fill.
