Six sleeves, each 22 mm wide and stitched individually so pens cannot touch, under a full-width flap that folds down over the nibs before the roll is wrapped. The flap is the detail that matters: a roll without one lets the nibs reach the next turn of leather, and that is how clips get bent and nibs get sprung.
The hide is 1.6 mm vegetable-tanned shoulder, natural, undyed, saddle-stitched with waxed linen at eight stitches to the inch. Undyed leather starts the colour of pale biscuit and goes to a deep tan over a year of handling and sunlight, unevenly, following where it is held.
The tie is a 900 mm flat lace through a single slot, long enough to wrap three times. Open it is 330 by 220 mm; rolled with six pens it is about 60 mm in diameter. It will take any pen in this catalogue including the 158 mm Registry 01.
