We want to be exact about what this is, because the trade is not. This is a steel nib with a heavy gold plating, not a gold nib. A solid gold nib is a different material with genuinely different flex and a price four times this. What the plating changes is the surface: gold is softer than steel against paper and slightly more slippery, so the nib feels a little smoother and a little less toothy, and it does not corrode in iron gall.
Mechanically it is identical to the plain steel unit — same blank, same tine geometry, same ebonite feed, same housing, same four grinds at the same measured widths. If you write with iron gall daily the corrosion resistance is a real argument. If you want flex, buy the Copperplate Flex instead; this will not give it to you.
Written-tested, test card in the box. Fits every No. 6 pen in the catalogue.
