A proper account book, built the way account books were built: 272 pages of 110 gsm cream wove, feint-ruled at 8 mm with a single red margin rule, sewn on tapes, with the spine rounded and backed so the block holds its shape under a hundred openings a year rather than splaying.
Half-binding means the spine and corners are in a leather-grain material and the boards are covered in book cloth — the old economy, where the expensive material goes only where the wear is. The corners are the first thing to fail on a book that lives on a shelf, and these are the part that is protected.
At 110 gsm the sheet handles iron gall without feathering, which matters because iron gall is what a book like this ought to be written in. The pages are numbered in the lower outer corner. There is no index; we leave the first four leaves blank for you to rule your own.
