A4 is the size for a notebook you write in at a desk and never carry. This one is 160 pages of 100 gsm cream laid stock, section-sewn in eight signatures so it opens flat from the first page without being broken in. The laid texture is real — the sheet is made on a dandy roll, so the chain lines are pressed into the fibre rather than printed on top of it.
At 100 gsm with internal sizing, it takes a wet broad nib without showing through. We tested it with the Engrossing No. 8 at 1.1 mm on the house violet: no bleed, no feather, a faint ghost on the reverse readable only against a window. Dry time runs a few seconds longer than on a coated sheet because the surface is genuinely absorbent.
Cover is book cloth over 2 mm board, blind-debossed with the RPCO mark on the lower front, with a single cream ribbon and a rounded-corner block. Ruled at 7 mm or blank — stated at checkout.
