We made the Column because it is the fastest way to understand why a pen writes the way it does. The barrel and section are clear cast acrylic, polished inside and out, and the feed is the same nine-fin ebonite unit we fit to the Registry. With the pen held up to a window you can watch ink move into the fins when the nib gets warm, and watch it draw back when it cools. That is the whole mechanism, and most people have never seen it.

It is a working pen, not a toy. 137 mm capped, 18 g filled, a No. 6 medium nib tuned to a 0.6 mm line. The clear section does stain over time, particularly with iron gall and with saturated violets — we think that is a feature, but if you do not, stay with a blue-black.

Converter supplied and visible. Flush it under a cool tap and let it dry nib-down on a cloth.
