The tools for the three repairs that account for almost every pen that stops writing: a tine out of alignment, a feed clogged, and a seal gone dry. Everything is in a shallow walnut tray with a felt base, which matters more than it sounds — the single commonest way to lose a nib is to work on it over a hard desk.

Contents: a 0.05 mm brass shim for clearing a slit, three grades of micro-mesh from 4000 to 12000 for smoothing a scratchy tip, a 10 ml bulb syringe for flushing a feed faster than a converter will, a 5 g tube of pure silicone grease for piston and converter seals, a lint-free loupe cloth, and a hardwood nib block with a shallow radius for easing a sprung tine back.

No instructions are included, deliberately — these are tools for someone who already knows what they are doing, and the way to learn is on a cheap nib. The loupe is not included and is genuinely required; see the 10x bench loupe.
