Oak Gall Brown is the odd one in the range. It is a muted brown with a distinct green cast that only shows where the line is thick or where the ink pools, and it has an unusually low dye load, so it shades more dramatically than anything else we sell — the difference between a fast thin stroke and a slow thick one can be two full tones.
That makes it a poor choice for anything that has to be uniformly legible and an excellent one for drawing, for annotation, and for diluting. Cut it one-to-one with distilled water and it becomes a usable wash ink for a dip pen and a brush; cut it one-to-three and it is a sepia tone for laying over a line drawing.
Dye-based, neutral pH, not waterproof. It is a dry writer by nature, so pair it with a wet nib. 30 ml round bottle.
