Clerk’s Grey is deliberately weak. It is the lowest-saturation ink in the range, mixed to put down roughly the tone of a 2B pencil, and it exists because a page of corrections in black looks like an argument and a page of corrections in grey looks like work. In a fine nib it is light enough to annotate over printed text without competing with it.
Low saturation brings two practical benefits. It dries fast — about 8 seconds on 80 gsm — and it almost never feathers, even on cheap absorbent paper, because there is simply less dye to spread. That makes it the ink to carry for writing on whatever is in front of you.
It will look washed out in a very fine dry nib; it wants a medium or a wet fine to show its tone properly. Dye-based, neutral, not waterproof. 30 ml round bottle.
